PolObs Seminar: “The Strategic Dynamics of Portugal, Brazil and Spain in Ibero-American Cultural Diplomacy”

On May 14, at 3 pm, the seminar ‘The Strategic Dynamics of Portugal, Brazil and Spain in Ibero-American Cultural Diplomacy: articulation for an emerging cultural market?’ will be held as part of the PolObs Culture 2024 Seminar Cycle – Connecting Doctoral Projects with Cultural Policies. The event will be broadcast online via the Zoom platform.

This session’s guest is Cristiane Oliveira, a PhD candidate in Contemporary Studies at the University of Coimbra, who will present reflections on the role of Portugal, Brazil and Spain in Ibero-American cultural diplomacy. The aim of her research is to analyse the countries’ interactions in bilateral and multilateral cultural cooperation between 2007 and 2019. During her PhD, she will analyse actions carried out by the Camões and Cervantes Institutes, the Brazil Cultural Network and the Ibero-American Culture Programmes.

Cristiane Oliveira is a cultural manager and international analyst. She is studying for a PhD in Contemporary Studies at the University of Coimbra, with a scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology. She has worked as a consultant on cultural projects for various cultural secretariats in Brazil. She was a consultant at PIRC (UK, 2020-2022) and Transparency International Brazil (BR, 2017), a curator at Sesc Palladium (BR, 2012-2016) and a dancer at the Palácio das Artes Dance Company (BR, 2001-2009). She is a member of Brazil’s National Forum of Cultural Analysts and of CEIS20’s Artistic Currents and Intellectual Movements group (PT, UC).
