The seminar “The Commons Paradigm and the Transformation of Museums” will be held on July 9 at 3 pm as part of the PolObs Culture 2024 Seminar Cycle – Connecting Doctoral Projects with Cultural Policies. The event will take place via Zoom.
This session’s guest is Denise Pollini, a PhD candidate in Cultural Studies at the University of Antwerp, who is trying to understand how the “Commons” paradigm (or Communalisation) can engender a proposal for the renewal of museum institutions in the 21st century.
Denise Pollini is a researcher, educator and curator who lives between Porto, Portugal, and Antwerp, Belgium. She was Coordinator of the Education Service at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art between 2015 and 2021 and of the Education Sector at the Museum of Brazilian Art (São Paulo) between 1999 and 2015. In 2023 she curated the international conference “Common: For the Politics and Aesthetics of Sharing”, held in São Paulo, Brazil. He is currently working on his PhD at the University of Antwerp on the theme “The Commons and Museums: the Commons as a Pathway to a New Institutional Dynamic.” Since 2022 she has been a member of the Culture Commons Quest Office (CCQO) research centre in Antwerp. He has a scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) in Portugal.
