Another Seminar on Communication and Diversity session will be held on March 2, at 2:30 pm, via zoom. Joana Dias Pereira (IHC-FCSH) is the guest speaker at this seminar dedicated to the theme “Subjects and producers of knowledge: research on, for and with historical agents”.
Joana Dias Pereira is a researcher under contract at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences and a member of the board of the Institute of Contemporary History. PhD in history with a thesis entitled The Social Production of Workers’ Solidarity. She is dedicated to the history of associative and social movements in the 19th and 20th centuries in Portugal and the former Portuguese colonies. She has published multiple books and articles on the subject, such as Associativismo Livre: uma história de Fraternidade e Progresso (1834-1926), Threatening Alliances: Portuguese Ethnography of Indigenous Associative Life in Angola, Mozambique, and Guinea (1945-1974) or Engaging with Colonial Knowledge on African Associational Life: Angola Case Study from 1860 to 1974.
