Doctoral Seminars of Communication Sciences and Cultural Studies in 2019

The foresaw schedule for the Doctoral Seminars of Communication Sciences and Cultural Studies is already available. Between March and May of 2019 several will be the subjects approached.

The first session will take place on March 1, at 10:00 am, in the “Sala de Atos” of the ICS, with the participation of Isabel Macedo and Mariana Lameiras. “Challenges and difficulties that unite: testimonies” is the theme of this first seminar.

In a joint initiative of CECS and the Department of Communication Sciences, the cycle of seminars continues on March 15 with two sessions. In the morning, at 10:00 a.m., in the “Sala de Atos” of the ICS, João Gonçalves will hold a debate on “Content Analysis”. In the afternoon, Alberto Sá gave a workshop on Endnote software. This session, to be held in a laboratory with limited space, will preferably be dedicated to doctoral students, prior registration. The same happens with the Doctoral Seminars of April 5 and 12, coordinated by Sandra Marinho and dedicated to SPSS software.

On May 3, the Doctoral Seminars are again open to the community, being held again in the “Sala de Atos” of the ICS with Francisco Campos and Manuela Ivone Cunha. “Ethnographic Methodologies” will be the theme of this seminar that will begin at 3:00 p.m.

On May 17, Anabela Carvalho will lead the penultimate Doctoral Seminar of the year, dedicated to “Discourse Analysis and Socio-Political Criticism”. The session takes place in the “Sala de Atos” of the ICS and will begin at 2:30 p.m.

The last Doctoral Seminar of the 2018/2019 school year is scheduled for May 31 and has an international guest. John Downey of Loughborough University will present his lecture in the “Sala de Atos” of the ICS in the morning, followed in the afternoon by a session on “Film Analysis” with Isabel Macedo.
