The Inaugural Session of the Doctoral Programs in Communication Sciences and Cultural Studies will take place on September 29 at 3 pm in the Engineering Auditorium (in front of the ICS).
Manuel Chaparro is the guest speaker at this session, which will be entitled “Radical Communication: thinking about the narratives of media culture from the point of view of common goods”.
Manuel Chaparro is a full professor of Journalism at the University of Malaga (Spain). He acted as vice-President of the Faculty between 2002 and 2016. Director of the Laboratorio de Comunicación y Cultura (LABCOM-Andalucía). Founder and director of the public and community network EMA RTV and Onda Local Andalucía (1984-2021).
Author of several books and articles, he has recently published Claves para repensar los medios y el mundo que habitamos. La distopía del desarrollo and Comunicación Radical. Despatriarcalizar, decolonizar y ecologizar la cultura mediática (in coauthorship with Susana de Andrés).
He has been working in communication research projects in diverse countries, such as Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Peru and Dominican Republic. He also acted as consultant of AECID in Bolivia and Guatemala.
His research interests include communication and development, decolonial narratives and public policies.
