The opening lecture of the Communication Sciences and Cultural Studies doctoral programs will take place on October 12, at 2:30 pm, in the ICS and will be attended by Simonetta Luz Afonso.
“Portugal and its Circumstances: Culture, its internationalization and the creation of new public” is the title of the conference given by the guest.
Simonetta Luz Afonso directed the National Palaces of Pena and Queluz, as well as the Portuguese Institute of Museums; programmed, organized and directed the exhibitions of the Europalia 91 Festival and the Lisbon European Capital of Culture 94; conceived and directed the Portugal Pavilion at Expo’98 and Hannover 2000; directed and reorganized the Camões Institute, promoting the internationalization and teaching of Portuguese Language and Culture. She has been a municipal deputy from Lisbon since 2009 and has been a member of the Independent General Council of RTP since 2014.
This initiative is a partnership between the Communication and Society Research Centre and the Department of Communication Sciences of the University of Minho.
