The last session of the Doctoral Seminars of Communication Sciences and Cultural Studies will begin tomorrow, at 10:00 a.m., in the Institute of Social Sciences, with Tristan Mattelart, Professor at the University of Paris II. In the afternoon, the workshop on focus groups will be held, with Rosa Cabecinhas, a CECS researcher.
Tristan Mattelart will present the communication “Ethnic minorities’ media experiences: from the transnational to the local”. Mattelart is a researcher at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Analysis of the Media (CARISM) and works on topics such as the transnationalization of the media, the geopolitics of transnational television information, the relationship between media, migration and cultural diversity, among other topics.
Rosa Cabecinhas, a CECS researcher, will give the workshop “Focus groups and methodological triangulation”, which will begin at 2:30 p.m., in the same room. Rosa Cabecinhas is an associate professor at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho, teaches in areas like Social Psychology and Intercultural Communication and is dedicated to researching areas such as intercultural diversity and communication, social memory, social representations, social identities, stereotypes and social discrimination .
